School Reopen News: Ever since the Narendra Modi-led government introduced a phased plan to unlock India, people across the country, especially students, have been wondering when schools and colleges in India will reopen. In particular, all educational institutions have been closed since mid-March, with some of them announcing a nationwide lockdown from March 25 to prevent the spread of the PM coronavirus epidemic.
However, now that the number of active coronavirus cases has decreased in some states, it is learned that the government is planning to resume normal classes in phases from September 1 to November 14. Earlier, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank stressed that education would be reopened only after assessing the status of the COVID-19 epidemic.
States like Assam, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Goa are reportedly planning to reopen schools in September. Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said, "We have prepared a preliminary plan to reopen the schools, but it is still open for discussion with parents and other stakeholders and will be implemented as per the instructions only allowed by the Central Government."
The Andhra Pradesh government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the authorities to be ready to reopen the school from September 5. Similarly, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also planning to re-open schools and colleges from Teachers' Day (September 5). . According to the Indian Express, Banerjee said that if the situation improves after August 31, they will definitely reopen schools and colleges in September.
However, many parent groups have called the move commendable. The Delhi Delhi Parents Association has written a letter to the Human Resource Development Minister suggesting that an online board exam be held next year. "All schools were ordered to close on March 16. The number of infected cases is in the hundreds. Now, it has crossed 10 lakh cases. It makes me laugh to see schools reopening in this situation," the parents' association said in a letter.
